The Heroes Foundation annual inauguration of students into the Youth Development Program was held at the Queen’s Hall auditorium March 13th, 2013.
Ten of our eleven schools inaugurated new students with a total of 276 students joining the YDP program for 2013. Champion school of the day was Arima Central Secondary who also captured best captain and best vice-captain.
This year as a tribute performance we featured keynote performances from the students of our various schools. These included the poetry and cello from St. Georges’ College, the fiery Flamenco from Barataria North Secondary thanks once again Mrs. Powers we all enjoyed it. A steelband medley from the girls of Bishop’s centenary, and an enigmatic Rhythm Section / Percussion Ensemble from the boys of Woodbrook Secondary under the expert tutelage of Mr. Gulstan. All noteworthy performances that left students vying for a place to perform at next year’s inauguration ceremony.
Our Motivational Speaker Mr Ryan Alexander renowned in the music industry as DJ Private Ryan entreated the students to his story of personal success. The value that hard work, success and a focused determination played in achieving international acclaim in his field.
Our annual Testimonial was delivered by Ms. Natalie Joseph past pupil of South East Port of Spain presently a student of the University of the West Indies.
